Tingewick Recreation Ground Changing Rooms Update

For those of you who have been wondering why progress has been so slow with the building of new changing rooms, here is an update.

Having obtained the necessary permissions, work commenced on refurbishing the existing building in Spring ’23.  When building control demanded deeper footings, this uncovered an unmarked medium pressure gas main & work was immediately ceased while gas board officials were consulted.  When Southern Gas eventually attended, (after several cancelled appointments) they demanded removal of all structures within 7 days but later, after negotiations, agreed that the existing base could remain, provided that all the rest of the building was removed.

They also conceded that the requirement for a 3 Meter wayleave could be reduced to 1 Meter subject to certain conditions.

Owing to the line of the gas main, we were forced to do a complete re-design of the building.  This meant going back to architects, who have recently completed a new design, which is currently being putting out to tender.

We very much hope to commence work again early next year.
