Tingewick Historical Society

The Tingewick Historical Society has been in existence for over forty years. We meet on the first Wednesday of the month 7.15pm for 7.30pm start in the Village Hall.

We usually have a guest speaker talking about some aspect of local history, but sometimes present our own research. Projects have included researching Tingewick’s 19th century trades and occupations and researching the village’s historic pubs. Details of each month’s meeting can be found in the Tingewick News and Buckingham Advertiser.

Membership is £5 per year.
Non members are always welcome at our meetings.

2014 was the centenary of the start of the First World War and members of the Historical Society researched stories of the Tingewick men who lost their lives in that war and are named on the war memorials. Findings were published in a booklet ‘Tingewick’s Fallen Soldiers of the Great War’, available for sale. If you are related to anyone on the memorials we would like to hear from you. Booklets about ‘Bygone Tingewick’ are also available for sale. Contact Sara Churchfield on 01280 847594 or Jackie Nash on 01280 848431.

2018 was the centenary of the end of the First World War and members of the Historical Society researched stories of the Tingewick men and women who served and returned at the end of the war.
