About
Tingewick is a small and friendly village of some 560 dwellings and at present approximately 1600 people and situated some 4 miles west of Buckingham.
Your Parish Council consists of the Parish Clerk and 7 other councillor members. Meetings are held in the Village Hall on the 4th Wednesday of each month commencing at 7.00pm. Members of the public are always welcome to attend and bring any concerns and suggestions they may have to the attention of the Council in Open Forum or simply just come along and see what your council is working on for the villages benefit.
The Parish Council is legally required to deliver certain services to the village. Some of these are: to provide and maintain the village with its bus shelters, to provide and maintain the cemetery and burial areas and to maintain the monuments and memorials including those in closed churchyards. In addition, the Parish Council provides and equips any community buildings that would be used by the people of Tingewick.
It is also within the PC’s remit to invest money on behalf of the village, on items such as the de-fib machine at the village hall, crime prevention measures, street cleanliness, providing and maintaining additional salt bin locations, whilst also dealing with the pond and surrounding ditches, maintaining footpaths and bridleways and ensuring all street lights for our roads and public places are in good working order.
In June 2006, the Council was the instigator in bringing back the Village Fete it has since gone from strength to strength and is now a popular annual event.
The village is entered each year into the ‘Best Kept Village’ competition. This was proudly won by Tingewick in 2017. Over the years the village has received many commendation certificates, long may this continue.
Your Councillors are always willing to listen to your ideas, thoughts and concerns, so please come along to any of the meetings, join in the discussion and help play your part in maintaining our lovely village.
